THE GUIDES / BOUYON
Bouyon music in Dominica: bands, stages and listening
Dominica is central to Bouyon’s story. Exploring the music means following records and performers as well as understanding where a performance took place and what kind of event it was.

Use event records as a starting point
Discover Dominica’s Bouyon Day 2025 announcement identifies a Roseau street event featuring artists including Asa Bantan, Reo and TK International. It is a useful record of that event and a source of names to explore.
Treat a dated programme as an archive. It does not establish an artist’s next appearance, a current ticket offer or a ranking. For future plans, check the organizer’s current announcement directly.
Listen to the performance in context
When you find a concert clip, check the venue, event and recording date. A short extract may begin halfway through a medley or miss an introduction that explains the next song. Seek a fuller performance when you want to understand its arrangement.
Compare that performance with a studio recording by the same artist. Notice whether the musicians extend a section, pause for the audience or change the way a vocal enters. Those observations belong to the performance you watched; they need not become general claims about all Bouyon.
Follow an artist rather than a label alone
Smokiller’s homepage connects to the artist’s published music, videos and projects. Use the listening hub for a broader starting point and the remix guide for individual selections.
As your list grows, keep the source link with each discovery. A country name in a playlist title is not enough to establish where every artist comes from. Official credits, artist pages and event programmes offer more useful clues for a listening map.
